Successful Weight Loss While on a Dinner Date - How to Eat Out Without Being Rude


Have you ever been on a roll and losing weight like you have always wanted but then you had an opportunity to go out with some good friends but you were afraid of what it would do to your weight loss program? There are no excuses for falling off your diet when dining out if you follow several simple recommendations. You can go out, enjoy your meal and still stay on your weight loss program.

Losing weight is easy if you remember a few tips about real weight loss and eating. There are five (5) suggestions that you need to incorporate into you weight loss effort. I hope they will help you when you are going out to have dinner.

1. Make a decision about where you intend to eat; most restaurants have menus that they can send you via the internet or by fax machine. Call and request that a menu be sent to you, review it and find a dish that fits within your program.

If you cannot plan ahead; simply rely on what you have learned during your weight loss journey. Limit your breads and other foods that you know are not helpful to your weight loss.

2. Remember that vegetables are your friend. Make vegetables the biggest part of your meal; choose vegetables instead of potatoes. Most restaurants have no problems or do not even raise an eyebrow when you choose vegetables instead of potatoes.

Order yourself a salad if one is available but make sure to have the dressing on the side and do not overdo it when you are putting the dressing onto your salad.

3. You need to remember what makes a reasonable size when ordering. Do not go for that 16 oz steak; when you know that smaller cut is better for you. Remember a proper portion size of protein is about the size of a deck of cards or about the size of the palm of your hand.

Slow down or limit yourself on the amount of bread you eat. Remember that bread has a higher number of carbohydrates and they need to be held to a minimum.

4. To keep yourself feel like you are starving; you should drink a lot of water during your meal. It is advisable to drink a large glass of water before you meet your party at the restaurant.

5. Chew your food slowly. That is right; by slowing down and chewing each bite about twenty (20) or more times you will be giving your digestive system time to send a message to your brain that you are getting satisfied. Simply by taking your time you can avoid becoming over stuffed.

If, by some chance, you do not get enough to eat then you should request more vegetables.

If anybody makes a comment about your meal and questions why you are eating healthy all you have to do is smile and let them know that you are trying to shed some weight and that you are on a health kick.
